Flood Statement
National Weather Service Indianapolis IN
1134 PM EDT Wed Aug 12 2026

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana...

  Tippecanoe River near Delphi.

  Wildcat Creek at Kokomo.

  Wildcat Creek near Lafayette.

  Wildcat Creek near Jerome.

  Wabash River at Covington.

  Wabash River at Montezuma.

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Indiana...

  Wabash River at Lafayette.

.Heavy rainfall across northern and central Indiana will make its
way into the Wildcat Creek, Tippecanoe and Wabash Rivers and bring
minor lowland
flooding along those rivers. Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to
2.5 inches through Friday morning in the upper parts of those basins
was included in the forecast, so any deviations from that could
change the crests and amount of time in flood.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

To escape rising water, take the shortest path to higher ground.

Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet
and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim,
or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters,
stop, turn around and go another way.

Additional information is available at www.weather.gov/ind.

The next statement should be issued Thursday afternoon by around
noon EDT.
