Flood Statement
National Weather Service Indianapolis IN
107 AM EDT Sat Aug 15 2026

...The Flood Warning continues or is extended for the following
rivers in Indiana...

  Fall Creek at Millersville.

  Fall Creek near Fortville.

White River from Muncie to Edwardsport.

.Significant rainfall over the past 3 to 4 days has resulted in
flooding along the White River and associated tributaries in central
Indiana. Major to record flooding is occurring along the White River
near Indianapolis and in the northeastern portion of the
Indianapolis metropolitan area. Residents of these areas in flood
zones are advised to follow the recommendations of local emergency
officials, as evacuations have occurred in some areas.

Additional rain is possible at times through the weekend. Please
stay advised of the latest forecasts and conditions through the
weekend into next week, especially those who live near waterways or
other flood prone areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet
and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim,
or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters,
stop, turn around and go another way.

Additional information is available at www.weather.gov/ind.

The next statement should be issued this afternoon by around 415 PM
EDT /315 PM CDT/.
