  Southern Cedar County in east central Iowa...
  Iowa County in east central Iowa...
  Johnson County in east central Iowa...
  Muscatine County in east central Iowa...
  Keokuk County in southeastern Iowa...
  Northwestern Louisa County in southeastern Iowa...
  Washington County in southeastern Iowa...

* Until 815 AM CDT.

* At 541 AM CDT, Trained weather spotters reported flash flooding in
  Kalona. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen across portions
  of the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing. Rain has tapered off
  to mainly light to at times moderate rain, with the heaviest rain
  having already occurred. Be alert for rapid rises and flooding on
  area streams, creeks and along the English River. Washington County
  deputies reported around a foot of water was covering the
  intersection of 133rd Street and Nutmeg Street in Kalona due to the
  English River being out its banks.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Trained spotters reported.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
           drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Iowa City, Muscatine, Washington, Tipton, Marengo, West Branch,
  Sigourney, Columbus Junction, Durant, Coralville, North Liberty,
  West Liberty, Williamsburg, Wilton, Kalona, Tiffin, Wellman, Lone
  Tree and University Heights.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 205 and 277. Interstate
380 between mile markers 1 and 7.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
