Flood Statement
National Weather Service Indianapolis IN
1100 AM EDT Fri Aug 14 2026

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Indiana...

  Tippecanoe River near Delphi.

  Wabash River at Lafayette.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana...
Illinois...

Wabash River at Montezuma, Covington, Terre Haute, Hutsonville
Legacy Power Plant Site, and Riverton.

.Rounds of heavy rain has dumped between 2.50 inches and 5.25 inches
of precipitation along the Wabash River over the past 48 hours,
ending at 8 AM EDT this morning. This is bringing flooding to most
of the Wabash River. At this point in time, all forecast crests are
expected to be below moderate flood stage.

Additional rain, on and off, into the new work week is in store,
which likely will prolong and possibly worsen flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

To escape rising water, take the shortest path to higher ground.

Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet
and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim,
or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters,
stop, turn around and go another way.

Additional information is available at www.weather.gov/ind.

The next statement should be issued late tonight by around 200 AM
EDT /100 AM CDT/.
