For the High Rip Current Risk, through Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Long-period east to northeast swell, emanating from distant Typhoon Dolphin, continues to produce a high risk of rip currents along east-facing reefs, spreading to north-facing reefs beginning tonight, with hazardous surf also expected to develop along north and east-facing reefs tonight. As Dolphin passes the far northern CNMI, the long-period swell direction is expected to shift north over the next few days, and then northwest around midweek. As it does so, a high risk of rip currents, and hazardous surf, is expected to develop along west facing reefs later this week. Rip currents will be life threatening. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. Rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip current, relax and float.
