...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, including the following
areas, Northern Fairfield, Northern New Haven and Southern
Fairfield and southeast New York, including the following areas,
Northern Westchester, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Southern
Westchester.
* WHEN...Through late tonight.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Multiple rounds of heavy downpours and thunderstorms are
expected this morning into tonight. Averaged rainfall totals
will be between 1 and 2 inches, with localized swaths of 3 to
4 inches possible. Peak rainfall rates in the strongest
storms could be 2-3 inches per hour.
