The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Yavapai County in west central Arizona...
* Until 430 PM MST.
* At 124 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area from Poland Junction to Mayer,
including the Big Bug Creek drainage. Between 0.75 and 1.75 inches
of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.75
inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing
or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets and
underpasses.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Dewey-Humboldt, Mayer, Spring Valley, Cordes Lakes, Centennial
Park, Poland Junction and Cordes Junction.
This includes the following highways...
State Route 69 between mile markers 263 and 279. Interstate 17 near
mile marker 262.
This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers...
Hackberry Creek, Big Bug Creek, Turkey Creek, Yarber Wash, Brushy
Wash, Mineral Creek, Agua Fria River, Antelope Creek, Badger Spring
Wash, Chaparral Gulch, Wolf Creek, Grapevine Creek and Cedar Creek.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Flooding of washes and creeks will occur, some dirt roads will become
muddy and impassable. Paved roads and underpasses could become
flooded as well.
Low water crossings will become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not
attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
